Le Bruant jaune n’a de cesse de chanter ce matin de juillet.
Le voilà perché bien en vue en haut d’une haute tige d’Aubépine. Il y répète inlassablement sa phrase rythmée et douce, définissant presque les lieux et la saison. C’est un plaisir à trouver les subtiles différences d’une phrase à l’autre.
Les pâtures sont bordées de haies de Charmes, d’Aubépines, de Noisetiers et de Houx. Et des vieux Charmes têtards donnent le volume au décor. L’endroit est parfait pour attendre au pied d’un Houx les Chevreuils rentrant dans le bois.
Un chemin relie les champs ouverts au bois de Hêtres en contre-bas. En lisière, au pied d’un Merisier, fleurissent en ce moment les rares Epipactis helleborine. Au printemps, d’autres raretés sortiront le soir venu…des Salamandres tachetées.

The Yellow Hammer sings unceasingly in this morning of July.
Here it is, perched, in plain sight, on the top of an Hawthorn branch. It repeats tirelessly its rhythmic and sweet phrase, nearly defining the places and the season. This is delightful to find out the subtle changes from one musical phrase to another.
The meadows are bordered with hedges : Hornbeams, Hawthorns, Hazel trees, Holly trees.
Hornbeams give the volume to the setting. The place is just perfect to wait, under the Holly tree,
for the Roe Deer coming into the wood.
A path goes from the open fields to the Beech grove downwards. On the edge of the forest, by a Wild Cherry, the rare Broad-leaved Helleborines are now blooming. At spring time, other rarities, Salamanders, will appear at dusk.

Entre leurs jaune vif et le jaune citron, les roux et les noirs du Bruant, un autre sujet d’étude coloré fait son apparition dans le fouillis d’un roncier : la discrète Fauvette grisette vient d’émettre des notes fort sympathiques. Et voici le Coucou.
Plus loin, dans les champs, le Bruant proyer chante, accompagné de notes d’une Bergeronnette printanière et de Perdrix grises.

From their bright and lemon yellow colours to the russet and black of the Yellowhammer, another colourful subject of studies makes an appearance in the jumble of a Blackberry bush : the Whitethroat has just emitted very pleasant musical notes.
And here comes the Cuckoo.
Further away in the fields , the Corn Bunting sings accompanied by the notes of the Yellow Wagtail and of Grey Partridges.
