The grass beds of Starworts and Pondweeds are swaying in the rough flow of the river. The fast water underlined the pebbly floor of the upper valley. A lean and glossy silhouette has just been hidding in it.

this fish has already disappeared from many rivers.

Les herbiers de Callitriches et de Potamot flottant se balancent dans le courant agité de la rivière. L’eau rapide souligne ce fond caillouteux de haute vallée. Une silhouette élancée et brillante vient de s’y cacher…

De grandes écailles aux points noirs disposées en rangées, une nageoire dorsale en étendard de couleurs caractéristiques, le dos bleuté à violacé, les flancs verdâtres, les nageoires pelviennes lavées de rouge brique. Un mâle en période de reproduction.
Baisse de la qualité initiale des eaux, cloisonnement et uniformisation des ses habitats, ce poisson a disparu de beaucoup de rivières.
J’ai aimé écrire des textes sur les plantes des rivières rapides, les hydrophytes, enracinées sur les substrats caillouteux ou argileux.
