Avec l’exposition entre terre et mer.

Ces oiseaux de l’air me semblent souvent se confondre avec la palette de couleurs des ciels et des paysages.
De leurs études et peintures, j’y vois des couleurs sable, fusain, silex pâle, ciel gris clair, blanc pur, bleus d’embrun marin et métallique, rouges brique.
Les vols habiles et élégants, les corps fins, les ailes longues et les becs courts leurs sont caractéristiques.
Elles sont perchées ici sur des socles en harmonie : de fines branches de bois flottés des plages de Folkestone et Wimereux ; et, des constructions humaines qu’elles affectionnent, un vieux chevron de chêne retrouvant là une nouvelle vie…

With the exhibition between land and sea.
As for me, these birds of air often seem to blend with the colour shade of the skies and landscapes.
From their studies and pictures, I see colours, sand, charchoal, pale flint, light grey sky, pure white, seaspray blue and metallic bue, brick red.
The skilful and smart flights, the thin bodies, the long wings, and the short beaks are typical from these birds.
They are perched here on bases in harmony : thin branches of driftwood coming from Folkestone and Wimereux ; and, from the human buildings that they like so much, an old oak rafter finding here a new life….

Pendant les mouvements de pinceaux, j’imagine les doigts du musicien sur le piano, la dextérité,
comme le jardinier repique ses fleurs, le maçon monte son enduit ou l’architecte dessine ses plans.
During my paintings and the movements of brushes, I imagine the pianist’s fingers, the dexterity,
like the gardener transplants his flowers, the mason applies his coating or the architect creates his plans.

April 14. See the first Swallow and a Yellow Brimstone Butterfly.
April 15. Easter Sunday. Another brillant day. Saw a pair of House Martins, watehed some Trout in the Leet and found a Chaffinch’s nest nearly finished in a young Hawthorn.
