« Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson fell in love with Sissinghurst Castle
and created a world renowned garden. »
In the winter of 1950, Vita Sackville-West sat down to write her weekly article for the Observer paper. She had been in the garden working on her latest project and naturally this is what she wrote about, expressing her hopes and dreams for the new garden room that she was creating at Sissinghurst. On that cold day in January she wrote : « All the same, I cannot help hoping that the great ghostly barn-owl will sweep silently across a pale garden, next summer in the twilight- the pale garden that I am now planting, under the first flakes of snow. »

« A family home, delightful gardens and an idyllic setting »
The gardens at Greys Court were virtually derelict when the Brunner family arrived in 1937. Lady Brunner in particular was keen to make a haven of tranquillity, which she wished to share with visitors. Why not come and be inspired by this garden, or take some quiet time to reflect ?
